Capri pants and clogs: a black-and-white weekend
the stil editorial team · 2 min read
Capri pants are back; this outfit shows the safest way to make peace with them. The rule is to offset any hesitation caused by a hem that ends mid-leg with long, straight lines: a fitted ribbed modal tank top up top, buckled leather clogs that leave the top of the foot bare down below. The tank top lengthens the torso, and the clogs' open toe finishes the leg line without cutting it off — the capris in between read like a deliberate choice.
The palette is deliberately pared down to two colors: a near-white top, black bottom. Against that sharpness, small textures come forward — the ribbed top's grooved surface, the clog's buckle, the mirror-embroidered tote catching the light. A cotton visor, from the editor's wardrobe, adds a daytime energy that reads more tennis court than beach.
The same skeleton can be built in other colors too, but it's worth trying this way first. Black and white is the ground that reads the capri's particular proportion most clearly — and making peace with a piece starts with getting to know it where it looks best.
